The URI is working with a team of undergraduate students to launch a new, interdisciplinary undergraduate research journal, Spectrum, in 2017.
We are now accepting applications from undergraduate students in any discipline for the volunteer roles of Managing and Associate Editor. Volunteers will receive training specific to their role on Spectrum, and will gain experience with the process of scholarly publishing and peer review, while working with a motivated and multidisciplinary team of undergraduate students.
Managing editors help oversee the workflow and production of the journal, and are involved in making decisions about the content and strategic direction of the journal. The estimated time commitment for managing editors is approximately 3-5 hours/week.
Associate editors have a hands-on role in the peer review process. They will typically be involved in recruiting and assigning reviewers to each submission, collecting and summarizing the reviews, and working with Managing Editors to make decisions about submission acceptance/rejection. The estimated time commitment for associate editors is approximately 2-3 hours/week during the submission review period.
Interested students are encouraged to apply by February 5, 2017, via this Google Form.
